Are you satisfied with the fruits of your mouth? Truly, you will have what you say. However, you can control your mouth and decide the kind of fruit it will produce. So, there is a need for you to learn how to control your tongue to eat the good fruits of the mouth.

A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man's hands will be rendered to him - Proverbs 12:14 (NKJV).

For "He who would love life and see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit - I Peter 3:10 (NKJV).

Introduction

It's God's desire to give you the good things of life, but you receive them by the words of your mouth. This is because you will have what you say. However, many are not eating the good fruits of the mouth but the bad fruits. Therefore, it's important that you restrain your words and speak only what will yield good fruits for you.

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise - Proverbs 10:19 (NKJV).

How To Control Your Tongue

1. Guard your tongue

Since your mouth determines your present and future, you need to watch over it. This is to ensure it delivers to you only what you would want to have. Also, you keep troubles far from you when you guard your mouth and tongue

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles - Proverbs 21:23 (NKJV).

2. Make a decision not to misuse your tongue

You have to take responsibility for what you say. So, you make a decision not to use your mouth wrongly. Surely, negative use of your tongue will backfire. And what you purpose to do, you will get empowered to accomplish. So, purpose that you will not say the wrong things.

My lips will not speak wickedness, Nor my tongue utter deceit."

Job 27:4 (NKJV).

3. Decide to use your mouth well

To utter the wrong things is very easy, but not the right things. Hence, you have to consciously choose what to say and say them. And you will never go wrong speaking the words of God.

And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness And of Your praise all the day long - Psalms 35:28 (NKJV).

4. Utter only a few words

You're safe when you say few words because in the multitude of words sin is there. So, be a person of few words. As such, people will consider you as a wise person, and people will have nothing to accuse you of. For your words will be concise and straight to the point

5. Learn to keep silent

There are times when keeping silent is the best and wisest thing to do. So, it's not all the time you must say a word to answer someone; being silent is also an answer. As such people consider a person who shuts his lips as being a man of understanding

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding - Proverbs 17:28 (KJV).

6. Ask for God's help

Truly, it's not by your power or might that you will control your tongue. For, if the Lord doesn't watch your mouth, you will be watching in vain. So, ask for God's help that He may watch before your mouth and keep the door of your lips. And when He's watching your mouth, you will be sure that no wrong word will come out of your mouth

Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips - Psalm 141:3 (KJV).

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain - Psalm 127:1 (KJV).

7. Guard your ways

It's vital that you watch your method, style, or manner of doing things. This is because your way of life will affect your words too. For instance, if you normally keep the company of the wrong people, you will most likely be saying the wrong things. So, guard your ways that you may not sin with your tongue.

I said, "I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me." - Psalms 39:1 (NKJV).

Conclusion

Surely, good fruits of the mouth are yours to enjoy. But you need to control your tongue to say the things that will only bring these good fruits your way. Therefore, follow today the instructions given above. And learn how to control your tongue to eat the good fruits of the mouth.
