Your Real Goal for 2022!
by Tonja Taylor

He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? --Micah 6:8, AMPC

There are so many things you (and I) could put on a list of goals for 2022!

But, as the Word says, "One thing is needful"--necessary: To draw closer to God.

So how do you draw closer to God?

You probably already know, but let's go over a few ways:

  • Remember God is a Person. He is a Spirit, not a body, but everything you see came out of Him. He is Love (I John 4:8), and loves you so much He sent Jesus, His Son, to save you from your sins. If you have received Jesus the Son as your Savior and LORD, then God is your Father! He sent Jesus so we could have a relationship with Him! After all, He has innumerable angels to worship and serve Him,
  • Read His Word. What is God’s will? His will is what is written in His Word. As you invest more of His eternal, unchanging, living Word into your spirit and soul (mind, emotions, will), you will understand more of His ways. His spirit will communicate with your spirit, and He will help you understand His will in specific things (i.e., whom to marry; which job to take; where to move; etc.). He is a good, good Father!
  • Worship Him. Music is very powerful, for good or bad. Why put damaging music into your life (and your kids’ lives)? Choose to listen to positive, God-glorifying music—and better yet, sing along!—and you will grow closer to God!
  • Pray. This is simply talking to God. However, it does not include complaining over and over. God is a good, faithful Father, and He knows this is a curse-filled world. Praying for your own needs is fine; He tells us to. Praying for others' needs is excellent. When you pray, remember to thank God for all His goodness to you, and that you know He will answer.
  • Help others. First, it is God's nature to help others. He is a Covenant God. He is Love. He has great mercy and long-suffering toward us all, Hallelujah! Second, when we help others, God's love is flowing through us, and we forget about ourselves and our own needs and hurts. God delights in His giving, and so do we; giving is God-like!

These ways can only help you draw closer to the LORD. As you do, you will better understand His wonderful Ephesians 2:10 plan for your life.

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].--Ephesians 2:10, AMPC

Make your relationship with the LORD your number one goal for 2022, and He will do things for you that are far greater than you can imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Hallelujah!

20 Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]—21 To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).--Ephesians 3:20-21, AMPC
