Why I am An Effective Teacher--and How You Can Be, Too!
by Tonja Taylor

I am an effective tutor for several reasons: First, I believe in prayer, and I pray for each student and session. That does not make me perfect, of course, but I truly believe God helps me, because He loves every child, and His love and wisdom flow through me.

Second, I have many years' experience in teaching many things, to many individuals and groups, in many situations. This gives me confidence in my abilities, and I have many pieces of "love art" from students, as well as kudos from supervisors and parents, to prove it.

Third, I connect quickly with my students to discover their interests, and I use various techniques and strategies to help them understand whatever concept I'm teaching, changing angles and examples as needed, until they get it.

Fourth, I have a lot of positive energy, a big smile, and high expectations for my students, while allowing for "life," and changing circumstances.

Fifth, I quickly admit it when I'm wrong, tell the kids I can learn from them, and congratulate them when they are honest about not knowing something.

Sixth, I'm not going to stop teaching until I go to Heaven, and who knows? I may be teaching then! :D

Seventh, The kids can tell quickly that I care about them and their success!

Ask the LORD for more strategies for success, and He will supply!
