How to Get More Mileage Out of Your Writing
by Tonja Taylor

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.--James 1:5, AMPC

The LORD is so good! When I was fretting one day (which God says not to do; He loves us, and commands us to rest in Him. This involves not only asking Him to forgive us through true repentance, but also forgiving ourselves!) about not having done more writing through the years, He comforted me, and said that He was "making up for lost time."  He's been so good to give me favor through the years so I can "skip a few steps" in certain things in my life, and/or get more done with less--as only He can do!

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.--I Peter 5:7, AMPC

So I'm going to share these strategies with you. You may already know them, but you can share them with other true Believers, because the more writings available for non-believers to read, the more God can use those writings to change the readers for Christ--which is why we are on the planet!! Hallelujah!

These strategies to get more "mileage" out of your writing involve "recycling" work you have already done.

As many of us writers like to say, "It is nice to have written!"

The first strategy is simply to take what you write--for instance, articles like this one you're reading--and transform it. Collect several articles (poems, stories, etc.) that are related, and create a book! You can self-publish it in various ways, including online.

The second strategy is to publish your books chapter-by-chapter, which is what I've done on this site, and on the major book-publishing site (and I'm earning money on the latter!).

If I can do it, so can you, and the LORD can give you many more strategies to get more mileage out of your work, and change more lives with what He writes through you. He is the Author; you and I are His Royal Scribes, as Matthew 13:52 says:

He said to them, Therefore every teacher and interpreter of the Sacred Writings who has been instructed about and trained for the kingdom of heaven and has become a disciple is like a householder who brings forth out of his storehouse treasure that is new and [treasure that is] old [the fresh as well as the familiar].--Mathew 13:52, AMPC

Glory to God! Hallelujah!

Let us ask the LORD to always help us remember our main goal for writing: to reach others for Him!

The fruit of the [uncompromisingly] righteous is a tree of life, and he who is wise captures human lives [for God, as a fisher of men—he gathers and receives them for eternity].--Proverbs 11:30, AMPC

We want to convey the love and faithfulness, mercy and grace of the Master, Who gave His life for us!

Even so it is that Christ, having been offered to take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all, will appear a second time, not to carry any burden of sin nor to deal with sin, but to bring to full salvation those who are [eagerly, constantly, and patiently] waiting for and expecting Him.--Hebrews 9:28 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)

So, enjoy and know that, when you serve Him and humanity by using your gift of writing, He can do big things with it! Just think of all the people in Heaven who'll come up to you and say, "Thank you so much for obeying the LORD. Your writing is why I'm here!"

Glory to God! Hallelujah! Now, go forth and write on! GOD IS FOR YOU!
