Dehydration
by PamFord Davis

It’s summertime.

There’s no way around it; it’s hot.

Area daily weather forecasts include excessive heat advisories, watches and warnings. Extra precautions are recommended when working outside and we’re reminded about the importance of drinking lots of water to stay hydrated.

“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name (Psalm 63:1-4 KJV).”

We can’t always tell when we become dehydrated. As a result, many suffer heat strokes and need hospitalization. I wonder how many today suffer from spiritual dehydration…

Jesus' living water satisfies.

“If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:10b-14 KJV).”
