PRACTACING THE PRESENCE OF CHRIST

Thought:  As believers how many times throughout the day do we think of Jesus presence within us?  We can set aside a certain time for bible reading or an occasionally devotional, but if we truly realize the person (Jesus) living in our temple (body) we would fall on our face in awe before Him. I Cor. 6:19-20 “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

Do we put Jesus in the storage room of our temple and open the door for a short visit once a day? Are we aware of His presence moment by moment no matter what we are doing, or where we go?  Once we develop a moment-by-moment sensitivity to His presence it gives us a security that’s comforting.  Like the apostle Paul said, “I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything.  I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or hunger, plenty or want; for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power (Phill. R:11-12).”

By practicing the presence of Christ, He will give us a peace that passeth all understanding.  It won’t matter if our world crashes around us, we have the confidence that He will never leave us (11Tim. 2:13). We have God on our side, the great I AM, the Creator of all things, that holds it all together.  When we have constant awareness of who it is that lives in our temple (I Cor. 3:16-17) “know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you?” we will never fear, worry or be anxious about our tomorrows.  We know how it all ends…we Win!

Prayer:  Father God thank you for the confidence I have that you will never leave or forsake me. Help me to have constant awareness of your presence in my life so that I can experience your peace and hope in a wonderful world you have planned for my future.  Amen

Verse:  II Cor. 6:16,18 “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God: as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. V.18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
