THE RED HEIFER

Thought:  What does a cow have to do with worship?  The red heifer is vital to restore biblical purity needed to rebuild the 3rd temple.  I viewed a documentary recently made in America, Jewish priests testified that after detailed inspection of a red heifer they had finally found the spotless one that will restore the purification of the 3rd temple.  These are the requirements:

  1. It has to be perfect in redness.  Two hairs of another color would disqualify it.
  2. Its hooves must be red.
  3. It must be free of any internal or external defects or blemishes.
  4. It must have not been used for physical labor or never been placed under a yoke.
  5. It has to be three or four years old

The heifer that was found met all the priest’s requirements, but it needed at least 1 ½ years more to reach the 3-year bracket.

The Old Testament temple rituals consisted of the sacrificial killing of the heifer with the priest taking some of the blood on his fingers and sprinkling it seven times in front of the temple for purification.  It was then burned, and the ashes put in a ceremonial clean place outside the perimeter for use in the water purification from sin. This ritual corresponds to the sacrifice of the Messiah. This was under the first covenant God made with Abraham (the law).  The second covenant came under Christs sacrifice and we are saved by grace. The future meaning of this was not known to the Jews. Applied to the Christian, this represents the washing of Christ blood for the redemption of sins.  When Jesus died on the cross that temple curtain was torn into the holy of holies permitting the people direct access to God through Christ. We didn’t need the temple rituals anymore.

In place, at this very moment, is all the sacred vessels, priestly garments and 500 Levites who will fill the duties of worship and sacrifice in the new temple.  The red heifer is vital to rebuild the temple.  How close are we to the rapture?  Is it time to be ready with oil in our lamps for the coming bridegroom?  If you have not been covered by the blood of Christ and “born again”, today is the day of Salvation.

Prayer:  Father God, help me to be ready when that trumpet blows.  I realize time is short and everything is falling in place according to your timing and purpose. Amen

Verse:  Heb. 13: 12-14 “That’s why Jesus suffered and died outside the city, where his blood washed our sins away. So let us go out to him beyond the city walls, (that is, outside the interest of this world, being willing to be despised) to suffer with him here, bearing his shame.  For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven.”
