Nicodemus Was Baffled
by PamFord Davis

All children are gifts from God.

“Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate (Psalm 127:3-5 NASB).”

Yes, all children…

Yet, I’ve always been partial to newborns.

“Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, and like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord (1 Peter 2:1-3 NASB).”

Newborn, born again…

Nicodemus was baffled.

“Jesus responded and said to him, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3 NASB).”

Yes, newborn; have you become a new creation in Christ?

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come (2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB).”
