Trusting Father in difficult seasons
by Lorraine Taylor

In All situations, even when you, and I, don't see it, we are secured in the Father's covenant promises where his love, his care, and his passion is at work in that 'adversity’; physical injury, relational conflict, betrayal, incarceration, mental illness, chronic illness, the sudden death of a child, family estrangement, missing person (Romans 8:28).

In the questioning, in the concern, in the heartache, in the frustration, we are guided by the faithfulness of the Triune One indwelling human frailty, whose spirit is drawing each one and us as a community, nearer, closer, wider, higher, broader within the personhood of the fellowship of their forever love.

Crying tears of unimaginable pain, in the valley of suffering, we are pursued and led into Father’s promised provision of comfort; velvety lush soft meadows, wildflowers dancing in the wind, streams of living waters and it is in those places of hurting, each one is intimately embraced (Psalm 23), within a spiritual cocoon.

Trusting God when we are pressed beyond capacity, beyond strength, beyond human knowing, (2 Corinthians 1:8)  is the disciples necessary path, where we are relieved in an unwavering surrender of that ‘thing’, releasing our hold upon any wanted outcome, each one is contained inside the great assurance and tender caring passion of our Father's heart, drawing ever so close upon the bounty of unmeasurable Grace.

As we intentionally turn towards Father’s love, immersing mind/body/soul within the union of the Triune Spirit, we discover their highest desire is to transform our inordinate human emotional reactions (fears, worries, anxieties) into being the beloved compassionate people bearing light, hope, and truth in the darkest of nights.

Prayer:

Father, I don’t know the result in this darkness, but I surrender this ‘thing’, trusting in the faithfulness of your covenant promises as I depend upon the empowering of the spirit to lead me through the valley of suffering into being compassionate caring love.
