The Power of Sound--To Hurt or Heal
by Tonja Taylor

Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].--Colossians 4:6, AMPC

Sounds are powerful, and "noise pollution" is very real.

Sounds can be soothing or searing; hurtful or healing.

Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.--Proverbs 16:24, AMPC

The most important and powerful sounds, of course, are words.

Let us ask the LORD to help us be more aware of our words, to bring health and healing, goodness and grace, to all that hear them; to build them up.

In Mark 11:22-24 (AMPC), the LORD talks about how our words can exert power:

22 And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly]. 23 Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. 24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

We can ask the LORD to help us use our words to help others see Him. This can be preaching and teaching, but also something simple, like telling others "God loves you!".

Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.--I Thess. 5:11, AMPC

King Jesus is coming soon. Let us be found doing; walking in faith that He is good, He is love, and the living Word, as we open our mouths and let Him fill them with His Grace, that all may be drawn to Him!
