Kindness
by Olawale Ogunsola

Kindness.
At one point or the other, everyone needs a form of kindness or ttheaother from a source, usually represented by a personality. One thing is that this kindness may come from a desired or expected source or any other least imagined.

That is the Lord for you. He works in ways not easily comprehensible tor mankind.

Let us consider three kinds of kindness available:
i. Satan's kindness. This looks like kindness but can it be called one? Why? This is because whatever goes to him for it, he will hastily grant it with the sole purpose of destroying the fellow in a short time. He is hunting you that you may become his prey, how much more when you approach him for kindness. When he gives you a cap, he will demand for your head in no time. So, there is no gain in approaching satan, the devil for kindness, John chapter 10:10 reads,
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus Christ) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Why then should you go to someone who would show you kindness to destroy you?

ii. Human Kindness. Do you know that human kindness is rampart? I think it is the commonest. What can human kindness be? It is a form of kindness obtained or given with the purpose of permanent enslavement or long term servitude. Whether this kindness is requsted or volumtarily offered, the motive behind it is simple: permanent slavery or long range srevice from the receiver.

In his troubles, David approached king Achis for kindness that he may get a place to settle for sometime, until he knows what the Lord will do about his life. The king obliged. The content of his heart was later reveavel thus,
"He has made his people Israel utterly abhor him, therefore he will be my servant forever." verse 1 Samuel 27:12. New King James Version (NKJV).

It was this king who gave Ziiklag to David as a place of abode which finally became that of every king in Judah,. Yet, he showed kindness to David with a wrong motive.

It was the intervention of the Lord that rescued him.

iii. Kindness of God. These words proceeds from the man after the heart of God, David, the second king in Israel. It was after his installation as king over Israel and establishment of his government that he remembered a kindness he should show. He said to his servants,
"Is there not still anyone who is left of the house of Saul that I may show him kindness of God?" 1 Samuel 9:3.
What is the main difference? The major difference is in the motive behind it and where the reward is coming from. The motive behind the kindness of God is simply to serve the Lord in the life of another person without waiting for any reward from the fellow who receives the gesture. The motive is simple and holy.

No wonder then that the Lord Jesus Christ admonishes all disciples, "Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind." Luke 14:21.
These are sets of the people who could not compensate the person who prepared the banquet. The reward is expected from the Lord who will give to everyone according to his works(Revelation 22:12).

My beloved reader, which of these three kindness do you want as a sane man? I think you will not want to be destroyed nor be enslaved. Therefore may you always come across those who will show you kindness of God in Jesus name.
In the same vein, which type of kindness do you show to people you voluntarily chose to help or who have come to you for kindness? Please, henceforth, let it be kindness of God and the Lord will reward you bountifully in Jesus name.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
