The Difference Between Praise and Worship
by Tonja Taylor

1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing! 3 Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we oaurselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.  4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name! 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.--Psalm 100:1-5, AMPC

According to a well-respected minister whom I heard teach on the difference between praise and worship, praise is when we focus on what God has done for us. Praise is, according to this minister, really focus on ourselves; what God has done for us, and how thankful we are.

Praise music is usually faster, more up-tempo, more light-hearted; joyful. We exult in how good our awesome Daddy God Who loves us has been to us, His kids!

Praise is, in most Bible-based churches at least, the music that comes first, as the singers and musicians let the Spirit of God flow through them, to clear the atmosphere and prepare the way for the Word of God to be taught and preached.

Worship is when we truly focus on God--His attributes; His mercy, faithfulness, grace, generosity, and so much more! We worship Him, love on Him, adore and exalt Him, just because of Who He is and the great things He has done and will do!

Hallelujah! Just typing this, I felt a surge in my spirit! How great is our God, the soon-coming King!

Worship music can be fast, but it's usually slower, more thoughtful, to lead us into a deeper focus on the LORD our God, Jesus Christ, the King of kings and LORD of lords!

There is a protocol to approach any king or high-level leader.

Our awesome God remembers forever that we are first His precious children (once we have received Christ Jesus, His Son, as our Savior and LORD by repenting of our sins and asking Jesus to come into our hearts, that is! John 3:14-17!)! Hallelujah!

Just as we love it when our children and other loved ones come up to us and hug us and tell us how they love and appreciate us; brag on us and acknowledge good things we've done for them because we love them, how much more does our God Who is perfect and ultimate Love deserve to be thanked and worshiped!

Only the LORD is worthy of worship! So that is where gratitude and adoration of others towards us ends.

Let us praise and worship the Worthy One; the LORD Jesus Christ and His Father; the great God Jehovah; the Maker of Heaven and Earth; the Creator and Sustainer of all life; the Blesser; the Good God Who is LORD of all!

Hallelujah!

[Here is] the High Priest [perfectly adapted] to our needs, as was fitting—holy, blameless, unstained by sin, separated from sinners, and exalted higher than the heavens.--Hebrews 7:26, AMPC

Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name,--Philippians 2:9, AMPC

To them belong the patriarchs, and as far as His natural descent was concerned, from them is the Christ, Who is exalted and supreme over all, God, blessed forever! Amen (so let it be).--Romans 9:5, AMPC

Tonja and her husband live to exalt God. They lift Him up in books (P.O.W.E.R. Girl!; LEGACY; Visions of the King; Your Holy Health; more); presentations; service in church, community, and the world; and via the "River Rain Creative" (309 videos) and "POWERLight Learning" You Tube channels.
