The Greatest Treasure
by PamFord Davis

Have you ever paid attention to how children open birthday or Christmas presents?

Most quickly tear up the paper and open the boxes to see what’s hidden inside.

Take a trip back in time and remember how you opened your gifts.

Were you excited?

How do you react now?

It might not be your birthday and it’s too early for Christmas…

Imagine that you’ve been given a box to open. Yet, it’s no ordinary box.

It might be a benefactor’s safe deposit box or maybe even an unearthed treasure chest.

Surely you’re inquisitive.

Why delay? Open it.

Our Bibles hold great treasure.

Most often, they’re out in plain sight; for many seen but unopened.

LORD, pique my curiosity; make me a seeker of treasured wisdom.

I want a closer walk with Jesus.

LORD, open my heart to the greatest treasure.

“I want their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God’s mystery—Christ. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him (Colossians 2:2-3 HCSB).”
