Poet's Theorem
by Tonja Taylor

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.--Prov. 17:22, AMPC

Most poets and other writers take themselves too seriously.

I have been guilty of such, even for decades.

Now I know, of course, that the LORD is the Author, and I am one of His Royal Scribes.

Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.--Hebrews 12:2, AMPC

I yield to Him, and He makes His words flow through my fingers.

1 Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight— 2 My Steadfast Love and my Fortress, my High Tower and my Deliverer, my Shield and He in Whom I trust and take refuge, Who subdues my people under me. --Psalm 144:1-2

I've been writing poetry since I was 9; for a few decades.  The LORD is a great encourager, and has a great sense of humor. This is what occurred to me one day about my work; my "Poet's Theorem":

Poet's Theorem

I am a poet.

All poets feel deeply.

Therefore, my poetry is profound.

According to Google, a theorem is "a general proposition not self-evident but proved by a chain of reasoning; a truth established by means of accepted truths."

So there you have it, my friends. I'm sure you agree! (Right?! But only if you want to. Let the LORD lead you! LOL!)
