John 15:13
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

“Ding!” The bell rang. Joe slumped onto the stool his trainer thrust into his corner as he came to the end of a bloody round 10. He could feel his nose was broken; he had a gaping tear above his left eye. Every bone and muscle in his body ached with intensity. Joe was losing on points, he knew it. “Joe, mate, you can do this!” said his trainer, Mike patching his wounds. “Just get in there and use your left. He drops his right when he gets tired. You can win, mate, hang in there, I’m with you!”

Boxing is a gruelling sport. We often watch a match thinking the fighter is out there on his own, but he’s not. He is part of a team. His trainer is in his corner, watching his every move. He is wise and caring. He knows the sport. He is aware of the opposition’s tactics. He understands the fight, after all, his been there himself, in the thick of the fray. Mike is Joe’s guide. Mike is Joe’s encourager and his help. With Mike in his corner, Joe will win the fight.

You have Someone in your corner. As you battle it out in the ring you can be sure he is watching, listening and loving you. Dear Holy Spirit is with you and he will remind you of everything you will need to overcome. He observes your troubles and your grief; he knows your enemy’s tactics. He is your refuge and strength, an abundantly available help in times of trouble.

You may feel like you’re losing the fight with two rounds to go, but don’t throw in the towel. Fight the good fight. Don’t allow confusion to cloud your reasoning. Don’t drop your guard. In Christ, you are more than a conqueror. You have the mind of Christ. Your Helper and Comforter is on your team, by your side each step of the way. So, hang in there, he is with you!

SO, DON’T GIVE UP, LOOK UP & PRAY

“Be my strength; be my helper. I trust in you to get me through.”

“O Lord, I’m fatigued. I’ve been battling it out for weeks and I feel like throwing in the towel. Forgive me. I realise now that I’m not alone in this fight. I know you’re in my corner. You are my trainer, my guide and my companion. I turn to you, O Lord, in my time of need. Be my strength; be my helper. I trust in you to get me through. Amen.”
