We Treasure the Book
by Tonja Taylor

And behold, I am coming speedily. Blessed (happy and to be envied) is he who observes and lays to heart and keeps the truths of the prophecy (the predictions, consolations, and warnings) contained in this [little] book.—Revelation 22:7, AMPC

WE TREASURE THE BOOK

For treasure I searched

Went around the world;

Spent all I had,

Then all went bad.

So with no distractions,

No other attractions,

I picked up “The Book”

And began to look.

People had asked me,

“Have you read The Book?”

I’d said, “I don’t read it,

Don’t want or need it.”

But I soon discovered

True treasure uncovered

(It’s not gold or fame,

Nor others knowing my name.)

Not electronics or toys,

Nor candy from boys,

Not food or clothes

Nor mansions of stone.

I looked in The Book,

And soon I was hooked

To my shock, it spoke true:

“The treasure is YOU!”

Me in Jesus—Him in me;

This wonderful Truth has made me free!

I am His; He is mine—

That’s my truest treasure Divine!

The Book is, of course, the infallible, unchanging, eternal living Word of God!

Hallelujah!

In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being.--John 1:1-3, AMPC

For what we preach is not ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves [merely] as your servants (slaves) for Jesus’ sake. For God Who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts so as [to beam forth] the Light for the illumination of the knowledge of the majesty and glory of God [as it is manifest in the Person and is revealed] in the face of Jesus Christ (the Messiah). However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.--2 Corinthians 4:5-7, AMPC
