To Birth the Church
by PamFord Davis

“Then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7 HCSB).”

Take a deep breath.

That’s not as easy as it sounds; multitudes live and die with pulmonary issues.

Each breath from God gives and sustains life.

Have you ever had the wind (breath) knocked out of you? I was very young and don’t remember how it happened to me. I do remember the pain and panic I experienced.

God has not only breathed breath into man. At Pentecost, He sent a supernatural wind.

“When the day of Pentecost had arrived, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like that of a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying. And tongues, like flames of fire that were divided, appeared to them and rested on each one of them. Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them ability for speech (Acts 2:1-4 HCSB).”

The Holy Spirit breathed spiritual life to birth the church.

Peter spoke to the crowd… “And with many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, ‘Be saved from this corrupt generation!’

‘So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about 3,000 people were added to them.  And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers (Acts 2:40-42 HCSB).”
