I remember my husband Norm’s early years as a DJ. Jobs were abundant and he had the advantage of deciding which radio job offer suited him best.

Today, good jobs are scarce. Applicants often settle for positions far below their qualifications and years of experience. They don’t quibble about salary or benefits; unemployment money is temporary. A full time position will get the jobless back in the workforce.

Employers have dropped health insurance; pulled pensions and tossed tenure.

Farewell to fringe benefits.
