Simple Faith
by Olawale Ogunsola

Matthew 17:20
[20]“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

The above is are the words of the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples. He taught them to have faith even as small as a mustard seed.

In part A of the quoted verse above, He accused them of not having "enough faith". This means that there is a level of faith smaller than a mustard. Do you know that it is not impossible to see people of God operating at this level?

Please, do not be one of them.

When Abraham, the father of faith was instructed to abandon everything of value used to give him some comfort to follow Him to an unknown land, do you know that he asked no questions. He obeyed.
He did not have a type of faith less than that of mustard faith which I have named "probing faith". This is a kind of faith that wants to know more or everything about the instructions given or its outcome.

In Judges chapter thirteen, is contained the story of a family who have been barren for some time. It is the family of Manoah.
By the time God was ready to put an end to their reproach, an Angel of God appeared to the wife that a child was on the way to the family. She asked the "man of God" no questions. She believed what she was told that a son is coming to the family. She had a simple faith, you can call it a mustard seed type.

When the woman told her husband, she prayed to God that the Angel come back to deliver the same message to him. God answered him. The "man of God" appeared to the wife again. She quickly ran to invite her husband who promptly came to the Angel.

He started with whether or not he was the one who appeared to his wife and the Angel confirmed it. All other questions were not answered by him. Manoah questions went like these:
"[12]So Manoah asked him, “When your words come true, what kind of rules should govern the boy’s life and work?”
[17]Then Manoah asked the angel of the lord, “What is your name? For when all this comes true, we want to honor you.”. Judges 13.

This was not done by his wife. She believed in what she was told by the "man of God". While the wife had a simple faith that brings great results, her husband had a probing faith. A type that wants details of spiritual pronouncements. This ought not be so.
Beloved reader, do you have a simple faith or a probing faith? Do you want to know when, where and how the Lord will fulfill His promises before you believe Him wholeheartedly? He may not add a single word to what He has said. Only have faith in Him. What He has said in His promises He will bring to pass in His time, way and place. He is unquestionable! Believe and wait for Him. God bless you. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
