At 74
by PamFord Davis

Beatle fans will remember the Beatle’s ‘When I’m 64.’ The song was recorded on their popular 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

I read some interesting trivia about the song on Wikipedia. It was one of the earliest songs written by Paul McCartney; he was only 14 years old. That was far from 64…

Age is a matter of perspective. I was 18 at the time of the song’s release. I thought the love song’s lyrics were sweet. Now, I think they’re fitting. I anticipate celebrating a 56th wedding anniversary in December.

I have not only reached 64; I’ve surpassed it. At 74, my husband still loves me.

God knows all about my days and years; they were ordained.

“For You created my innermost parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my formless substance;
And in Your book were written
All the days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.

How precious also are Your thoughts for me, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You (Psalm 139:13-18 NASB).”
