No Oath Imposition.
by Olawale Ogunsola

A walk with the Lord is a personal affair. It is a relationship between the Lord and whoever wants to walk with Him. Determining to walk with Him does not mean that you have to force your faith on others who are yet to start a walk with the Lord.

Let me reiterate here that following the Lord does not mean that a Christian should live his life in isolation, that is without interaction with others who do not share the same faith with him. If there is no relationship with them, how can there be an opportunity to share his faith with them? Every Christian needs to be in a good relationship with all his neighbors. He needs to Ally with others.

In such dealing, your faith should not be imposed on them. This does not mean that you have to accept all they have to offer, most especially those things that will tarnish your faith.
In Abram's (Abraham's) walk with God, he did not force his faith or any oaths he made to be bidding on others. He knew that his walk was with the Lord, himself, and his household.

This became evident in the market of spoils he and his allied forces recovered from those who attacked and spoiled the king of Sodom and his helpers. His words are,
"[22]Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I solemnly swear to the lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, [23]that I will not take so much as a single thread or sandal thong from what belongs to you. Otherwise, you might say, ‘I am the one who made Abram rich.’
[24]I will accept only what my young warriors have already eaten, and I request that you give a fair share of the goods to my allies—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre.” Genesis 14

.
Abraham did not bring his young warriors and allies into his solemn oath. He denied himself the right to spoils but he allowed others to have their share of the spoils.

Are you a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ? Hold your faith strong and be steadfast in your walk with God. On the other hand, do not force your faith or oath on others, believers or unbelievers alike. This does not mean that you cannot share your faith with wisdom with others. You can also encourage other believers to improve their walk and relationship with God. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
