19 Ways to Submit to God
by Tonja Taylor

Yesterday, I started out with a quick list of 10, and recorded a video of them, and as I was sharing this for the YouTube channel, the LORD added several more! Then, when I went to look at it after that, He added a few more!

He is the Revelation, and His Revelation--His Truth--is always flowing, if we will just be sensitive to it (and He will help us with that!).

  1. Acknowledge that He has been good to you; be thankful.
  2. Thank Him that He loves you and cares about your life.
  3. Tell Him that you know He knows all things, and that He created you, so He knows best for you (even if your mind doesn’t agree).
  4. Ask Him to help you commit your plans to Him, and thank Him that His Word says that, when you do, He will cause your thoughts and plans to agree with His, and they will succeed. 3 Commite your works to the LORD and your plans will be achieved.—Proverbs 16:3.
  5. Ask Him to help you be sensitive to His dear Spirit. Then, when you feel a tug on your heart, or keep having an idea to do someone good, submit to it by agreeing to do it. When we bless others, we get blessed! When we let God, Who is Love (I John 4:8), flow through us, we receive a priceless satisfaction that cannot be bought!
  6. Be open to correction. Then, when He shows you something to stop doing—or start doing—tell Him you want to obey, and ask Him to help you obey. He will!
  7. When you’re disappointed in people or circumstances, or otherwise hurt, submit to the LORD by speaking out loud: “I forgive” (others, yourself, or even God, if you realize you are disappointed in or angry at Him!), “I release (the negative feelings and thoughts, and the people from your expectations)”, and “I bless them.”
  8. When you know that you are hearing from God, and then things change (and you know that it’s the LORD changing things), you can say out loud, “LORD, I know You love me, and I submit to Your perfect will and timing.”
  9. When things don’t happen as fast as you thought they would, even though you know you’ve done all God has told you to do, remember that usually, other people’s wills are involved, and God is very merciful in dealing with us all. But He is always working all together for your best and His glory (Gen. 50:20, Romans 8:28)!
  10. When you have fear or other negative emotions about something or someone, you can say out loud, “I submit to God, Who is Peace and Love and Joy and Victory (and whatever other good things you can think of, for God is ALL good!), and I refuse to fear or doubt or stay angry or judge, etc. I judge God faithful Who promised (Hebrews 10:23)!
  11. Praise and Worship
  12. Prayer, especially for others
  13. Bodily church attendance
  14. Tithing
  15. Serving
  16. Giving offerings
  17. Being a dependable, diligent worker
  18. Not saying something that might hurt others
  19. Telling the truth

I'm sure the LORD can show you more ways to submit to Him!

See, it's really just living right, and overcoming selfishness and sin, to "submit" to Him. He loves us, sent His Son Jesus to die for us and pay for all the wrong, and only wants to help us have the very best life possible on earth!

But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.--James 4:6-8, Berean Standard Bible
