Sitting While Waiting
by Olawale Ogunsola

"The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool." Psalm 110:1.
Psalms 110. King James Version (KJV).

A seemingly "hard part" of the Christian journey is waiting. Many people of God are not aware of any need to wait in their walk with the Lord their God. Are you one of them? If you are, shift ground today. There is a need and provision for waiting in Christian Walk.

Do you say, "God is Almighty and nothing is impossible with Him?" Yes, you have known and utter the right things about God.

Let me remind you that, He has been so before creation. As Almighty God with Whom nothing is impossible, He was (and is never) never in a hurry to do things. He slowly, consistently, steadily, and surely created all things one after the other. And everything fell into place. The end of the work of creation was that God saw everything He created "was very good" Genesis 1:31. He spent six days putting everything in place.

Do you know that the Lord your God could create all things in a day as Almighty God? However, He chose to do it gradually until the end and everything went and ended well.

The second king of Israel, King David, declares, "The LORD (the Father) said unto my Lord (the Son), Sit thou at my right hand ( as best friend), until I make thine enemies thy footstool (victory is sure)." Psalm 110:1.

If the Lord (Son) had to sit until the the Lord (Father) makes His enemies His footstool, you as an Elect should know how to wait until the Lord brings victory for you.

Sitting is an aspect of waiting. It can be said that this setting has to do with how long the waiting will be. There is a limit to how long one can wait standing. This may involve temporary waiting which may not take too long a time.

On the other hand, almost every sitting associated with waiting takes a longer time. Do you know that when it tarries (the expectation), you may even doze off to sleep for some time? If it is the Lord who asks you to sit awaiting what He has promised, please, do so happily. He is at work while you sit. At the right time, it will manifest.

Your time of waiting allows the Lord to carry out some assignments for your comfort, convenience, and benefits. While He instructed the Lord, the Son, to sit, He told Him the reason and how long. "... Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool." He was preparing to conquer the enemies before any advancement. He wanted to obtain victory for the Son before anything else. The Son had to sit UNTIL the Father was done with the enemies. That was the duration, Until!

Now it is very important to point out that there is a location/position for the Son to sit. Where was it? At the Right Hand. This depicts having a right relationship with Him with all righteousness. It stands for being available for the Father's use at any time. It describes the affinity that should be between the two. This status must be maintained UNTIL the victory is reached.

Therefore, my beloved, you need to learn how to wait for as long as the Lord wants you to do so. Your waiting is part of your walking with Him and it is for your benefit. Beloved wait! Not only wait for a season but wait until He has perfected everything. There is sitting in waiting for the Lord. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
