Old Age, New Song
by PamFord Davis

Old age is creeping up on me. To many aging is scary; they feel lonely and forsaken by family and friends. They cry out in prayer…

God, where are you?

“Don’t discard me in my old age;
as my strength fails, do not abandon me (Psalm 71:9 HCSB).”

Memories strengthen faith and calm fears.

“God, You have taught me from my youth,
and I still proclaim Your wonderful works.
Even when I am old and gray,
God, do not abandon me.
Then I will proclaim Your power
to another generation,
Your strength to all who are to come (Psalm 71:17-18 HCSB).”

LORD, the years are passing quickly. Old age can make me feel bitter or blessed. Give me a new song of praise.

“He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the Lord (Psalm 40:3 HCSB).”
