FAITH is the Victory!
by PamFord Davis

How are Louisiana candidates feeling now?

Some taste the thrill of victory. Others had a bitter pill to swallow; they might taste the agony of defeat.

There is a winner in every race. Apostle Paul used foot races as applicable spiritual lessons.

“Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away. Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air (1 Corinthians 9:24-26 HCSB).”

Candidates had prepared for Saturday’s Primary Election Day; they focused on the goal.

“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne (Hebrews 12:1-2 HCSB).”

Not only candidates run in races; how will you finish life’s race?

Paul knew the secret; faith is the victory! (Hymn writer John H. Yates agreed. He wrote ‘Faith is the Victory’ in 1891).

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7 HCSB).”
