Short Lived
by PamFord Davis

Like many, I enjoy seeing the color of leaves as they turn in the fall. Here in Louisiana, we don’t see the vibrant colors of the New York State Adirondacks. Yet; there is a notable difference. I’m seeing red where there was once green. There’s also a noticeable change in the texture of dying leaves.

Leaves, once soft to the touch now appear dry and brittle. Soon, they will be carried away by the wind or fall lifeless to the ground. Life is short lived.

Lord, I want to live each day to the fullest.

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away (Psalm 1:1-4 KJV).”

Don’t wither; witness!

“My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.

I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.

O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come (Psalm 71:15-18 KJV).”
