Our Chosen Son
by Angela M. Baker-Bridge

We long awaited the parental joy,
Of adding to our home a baby boy.

Most think it easy; anyone can be,
The bearers of children, trouble free.

For us there were hurdles we had to leap,
Daily our faith we would struggle to keep.

Our emotions would rise, then they would fall,
Still we would seek to make sense of it all.

So many questions; but answers so few,
We struggled and prayed, God please get us through!

While the road was rough, we did also know,
With Gods help and love, the distance wed go.

We did all we could to prepare the way,
Counting the moments till the blessed day.

Then in a flash, heaven opened a gate,
Sending angels to us as we did wait.

Yet in pain and anguish the truth we learned,
Our son wasnt staying as we had yearned.

Our hearts now broken, tears ran down our cheeks,
Heaven spoke, you are the parents God seeks!

Most others ask God to give them a son,
But, Gods asking you to give Him this one.
Many years ago, God too a son gave,
Bearing the pain so the world He could save.
Now your son, an angel is called to be,
To watch over you till heaven you see.
He will be with you always, night and day,
Still your own, just in a different way!

Our arms seem empty, yet our hearts quite still,
Knowing we three are in Gods perfect will.

Some days are quite hard; we do miss him so,
No wrestling, no games, no watching him grow.

We dont understand, nor can explain why,
But know to trust God, He would never lie.

Through difficult times, God knows what is best,
In His promises alone can we rest.

It's the hardest step we ever did take,
Heaven rejoiced, there is no mistake.

So, if you're with us and hear a strange sound,
Know it's our son, the angel, hanging around.

Our boy knows we love him, we tell him so.
Yet he loves us more, for letting him go.
