No Bogeyman!
by PamFord Davis

I was young; I was gullible.

Cousins aroused my fears with stories of a Bogeyman. He was supposedly lurking inside dark closets and under beds.

‘Who’s afraid of the Bogeyman?’

I was.

The devil plays on our fears.

The Father relieves them.

… ‘for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7 ESV).”

I can rest in the knowledge of God’s protection. Fear not…

… ‘fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 ESV).”

Safe and secure, I should rest in His hand.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me,is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.  I and the Father are one (John 10:28-30 ESV).”

Why should I fear?

There is no Bogeyman!

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
    What can man do to me (Psalm 118:6 ESV)?”
