PEACE IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS

Thought:  Most of you would agree we live in a tumultuous time in history.  Rumors of wars, violence, depravity rages on just like in the days of Noah.  We are living in such a time as this.  As a believer, what is our response to it all?  Do we go into hiding, denial, indifference, or do we face it head-on, standing strong in the faith and trusting in the One who promised never to leave us?

II Tim. 2:13 “Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us, and will help us, for he cannot disown us who are a part of himself, he will always carry out his promises to us”

Heb. 13:5b-6 “That is why we can say without any doubt or fear. “The Lord is my Helper and I am not afraid of anything that mere man can do to me.”

Det. 31:6 “Be Strong! Be courageous!  Do not be afraid of them! For the Lord your God will be with you.  He will never fail nor forsake you. “

We can also find peace in Psalms 23: (Living Bible translation)

  1. CONTENTMENT: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have everything I need!”   IlPeter 1:2-3” Do you want more and more of God’s kindness and peace?  Then learn to know him better and better.  For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life:  He even shares his own glory and his goodness with us!”
  2. REST: “He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet   A picture of true tranquility.
  3. HEALTH: “He restores my failing health.” It’s good to remember the times that the Lord has restored us back to health.”
  4. LOYALTY: “He helps me do what honors him the most.” Apostle Paul suffered many persecutions but always kept his eyes on Jesus and his ultimate goal to spread the good news of Salvation.
  5. PROTECTION: “Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.” Psalms 5:7 “But as for me, I will come into your Temple protected by your mercy and your love” I will worship you with deepest awe.” 4:8” I will lie down in peace and sleep, for though I am alone, O Lord, you will keep me safe.”
  6. FOOD: “You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow.”  Have you ever wondered how the constant food supply is available in all the restaurants in our country?  That is a miracle in the making.
  7. BLESSINGS OVERFLOW: Blessings come to us every day.  If we have enough food to eat, shelter, transportation, sunrises, sunsets, beauty in nature, all are constant everyday blessings.  Do you remember to thank Him for them?
  8. HEAVEN: “Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards, I will live with you forever in your home.” Our blessed hope as God’s children is that we will spend an eternity with Jesus in the home that he has prepared for us.  We can look forward to that day when we will meet him face to face.  This promise should keep our hearts quiet and at peace.  Maranatha, he’s coming soon.

Prayer:  Father God, thank you for this promise of a better life ahead.  We will be spending eternity with you and our loved ones that have gone on ahead.  Amen

Verse:  Phill. 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.  If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.”
