Does He Love Me?
by PamFord Davis

He loves me…

He loves me not…

Okay; I admit it. I said it; while pulling small yellow petals off wildflowers. With hindsight, I realize it was a meaningless waste of time and of pretty flowers. I was young and gullible. It’s ironic and ludicrous. Adults question God’s everlasting love.

“But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him (Psalm 103:17a ESV).

He loves me; yes!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,
    for his steadfast love endures forever (Psalm 136:1 ESV).”

His love lasts forever and ever.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
    therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you Jeremiah 31:3b ESV).”

Why would anyone doubt the Lord’s love?

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,

‘For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
    we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39 ESV).”
