The Birthday Bash
by Shakera Reid-Stewart

He made his debut in a smelly stable,
His mom tried to make it comfy as best as she was able.
He had no grand palace filled with silver spoons
He had no fine streamers with rooms filled with balloons.
Before He came into this world His life was in danger,
Yet still He was sent to lie in that manger.

Although He was given His own star that marked where He was born,
Even though His birth was heralded with trumpets and horns.
Despite the gold, frankincense, and all of the myrrh too,
The gifts He brought made the others pale in comparison because of what they did for you.
How ironic that what He brought was worth more than any amount of cash!
How ironic that Jesus brought the best gifts to His own birthday bash!

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11)
