Good Times or Glory?
by Shakera Reid-Stewart Scripture: Matthew 7:13-14 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. We often take for granted that the devil is extremely good at what he does. Do you ever notice how easy it is to sin? How easy it is to tell a "little white lie" or to go with the crowd? It doesn't take deep thought to end up in it. In all actuality the devil usually plays on our feelings and emotions. We like to engage in activities and things that leave us feeling good even if only for the moment. Sometimes you look around and before you know it, you've sinned. That road to destruction has to be wide because the devil is trying to take down as many of us with him before the end of the story. He knows how it's going to end, just as we do, but he's not going down without a few casualties. He also knows that we seem to be able to think quickly on our feet when falling into trouble suits our needs. We can find a million and one ways to rationalize why it is that we should do the wrong thing. The only answer some of us can come up with taking the high, moral ground is simply because it's the right thing to do. It sometimes pales in comparison with the list of benefits of doing wrong. When you get to that fork in the road that can either lead you to the narrow path leading to glory, or to the broad gate that leads to "good times", know that anything worth having is worth working for. Things that come too easily in life more often than not have strings attached. Is eternity as a son or daughter of the King not worth fighting for? Besides, even though as Christians we have obstacles that we will have to overcome in this life, in the long run there will be good times in glory. The only difference is that our good times will last for an eternity and won't be short-lived like the ones used by Satan to tempt us. Good times or Glory?
