Simple Pleasures
by Shakera Reid-Stewart

Bask in the comfort of your homes, but think of those with none,
Enjoy the luxury of your cars, but don't forget those who walk in the hot sun.
Relax and smell the fragrance of your freshly washed skin,
But say a quick prayer for those who have nothing to keep the warmth in.
Delight in the expensive toy that you got for a special deal,
However, do you ever wonder about the ones who scrape for their next meal?

Be happy and be blessed by the simple pleasures in life,
But remember those who suffer in agony and strife.
Don't be ungrateful and complain about the material things that we lack,
Give thanks to God above and always try to give back.
Don't whine about what you don't have like those earrings, that toy, that purse,
Always remember when you've got it bad, there's always someone who has it worse.
