Prayer from Mark 4
by Jessica Gerald

Dear Father,

I praise you that you were such a good teacher, and that your teachings are recorded in the Bible for us to read today. I thank you that you give us understanding through these parables.

When your Word is sown in our lives, don't let Satan take it away as soon as we hear it. Don't let us be like the people who receive it with joy, but it takes no root. We don't want to fall away because trouble comes. Don't let our faith be choked out by the worries of life, deceitfuness of wealth, or the desires for other things. Instead, may our lives be fertile soil for your Word. Enable us to hear it, accept it, and may it produce a bountiful and eternal harvest in our lives.

We thank you that Jesus was so powerful that the wind and the waves obeyed him. When the storms in our lives threaten to drown us, we ask Jesus to rebuke them, also, and give us that calm. Give us the faith not to be afraid.

In the name of Jesus we pray,
Amen
