The Madmen
by Sarah Whitaker

We are the madmen, lost in insanity.

We need to be committed.

Love, no matter how many times it is shunned by the world, will always conquer all. This is our repeated action, expecting the very same result of salvation. In a world where people believe that their only chance at glory is slaughtering innocents before pulling the trigger on themselves, we are there still believing that we can reach out to them all. We are the ones believing that one day there will be no more need to write more requiems for the fallen. We see Jesus in all people, when the world sees a person at best, and prey at the worst.

I wear fishnets and vinyl, and am considered insane by my own kind. Those who follow the scene call me a living blasphemy against God or what they consider to be the mainstream for their enclosed circle of individualists. I lie between two worlds, as I am a light in a dark place. I say that I need Jesus in a world who is so quick to point the finger at others who need the same.

Where are you, oh fellow inmates? Where are those who loathe sin so much that they refuse to define people by them? Where are we who believe in what the world believes to be a fairy tale? Where are we who are imperfect, who love the imperfect, and praise God that we are imperfect that we might fully understand why heaven is so great?

We are right here. We are those who are not of religion, but of our Jesus Christ. We are the demented lot who believes that love is not bound by rules, nor shackled by preference or opinion. We are the psychopaths who believe that agape is better than sex, drugs, or any violence which might entertain us. We are the madmen who follow the Messiah.

Please, leave your coat and hat! Sit by the fire, and remove the straight jacket placed upon you by your woes. We are all eccentrics here, bound not by what the world calls normal! Have a drink by the fire, as we are all filled with the Spirit! Kick up your heels and let us wash them! This is world of Jesus Christ! Please pardon our mess. Even we are cleaning house with the help of our Savior. Worry not about leaving your own, either. We are certain someone has seen worse and has cleaned it up before. We do not throw books here, we simply point out the instruction manual should you need to fix something.

You have nothing to worry about if it makes little sense in your head. If we were meant to know everything, then God would have allowed Adam to eat from every tree.

Are you comfortable yet? Oh, fear not, we get that a lot.
