Temptation

I fought the temptation as best I could, but I was losing the battle. I couldn't understand why God would allow me to be tempted this way? I'm weak and He knows it. I tried to resist by quoting scripture, but my mind went blank. All I could think of was the object of my forbidden, devilish desire. I tried to look away but my eyes remained fixated on the sin before me. Sweat ran down my face, my breathing became shallow, my heart raced. I heard a voice whisper from deep within,
'Go ahead, just this once. God understands.'
"Yes" I said aloud.
I quickly put my hand over my mouth and looked to see if anyone had heard me. I didn't want to draw attention to myself. I wanted to indulge in my sin privately. The battle within me raged furiously.

Just then someone touched me. I knew it must be an angel sent from heaven to help me fight my unbridled passion. I looked upon my saving guardian and was quite shocked when; in fact, I did see an angel in the flesh. The angel had been sent from God to deliver me from my sinful desires. The angel gently took my hand and spoke to me in a tender, compassionate voice.
"Just walk away daddy. You can do it. I'll walk with you."
From her, I received the strength to overcome my temptation. I defeated my weakness and the devil too. I walked away from my passion, denying my flesh its' sinful craving.

Now each day I must keep up my guard or I will surely fall prey to my lustful desires. Eventually, I will face temptation again, but I'll be ready. I will simply pay for my gas with my eyes closed, lest I yield to the calling of that sinful, devilish, wicked, tempting, mouth-watering, delicious, irresistible, scrumptious candy aisle.
