Great is Thy Faithfulness
by

Opening the curtains, dawn was beginning to emerge. I looked out of my window at the scene of the ocean and gazed at the stormy clouds drifting quickly over the sky. Some were of a dark grey colour and heavy with rain, but there was also gaps of sky blue peeping through.

The changing scenery of the sky always attracts my eye and I love to gaze dreamily upon the abstract patterns; it amazes me. The patterns, colours and density are to me; an artists paradise.

My thoughts drifted, just like the clouds, to the Holy Scriptures which speak of the clouds being God's footstool. What an image! and in my minds eye saw the majestic image of God sitting on His throne, watching, listening and intervening for his saints on earth, a people set apart for His Glory alone.

How comforting to know we are not alone. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow; just like the ocean tides constant movement of coming in and out. No matter what the weather, storms or sunshine, God is always there. God is the True Anchor in our changing times both in this life and the life to come. What a wonderful God and what wonderful promises His Word gives us!

This morning as with many other mornings the Holy Spirit brought to mind yet another song. I clamboured out of bed to grab my hymn book; which is never far away. Sometimes I just can't get the right note to start the hymn, so instead I say them as prayers. But this morning my eyes fell upon the song 'Great Is Thy Faithfullness' and God gave me the first note. I have an audience of one; my dog Cindy!

God's mercies touched my heart afresh that morning; the truth being they are new every morning. As the skies changed into rays of burning yellow and orange the reality dawned on me that God is truely alive, His Word is the same again today. His mercies forever available and new day by day.
