Lucy Mouse Shares Her Faith, A Children's Story
by Nancy Quinn

There once was a tiny white mouse named Lucy. She had big pink ears and a little tuft of hair on the top of her head that never seemed to lie down quite right. So she just put a pink ribbon around it.

Lucy had asked Jesus to come in her heart and be her Best Friend just two months ago. She was a Christian now and she was excited! It was great to talk to God every night and she saw her prayers being answered. She wrote her prayer requests and answers in a little blue book with a flower on the front. When God answered her prayers, she put an exclamation point by the request and the date God answered her prayer. As she looked through the pages of her book, she saw lots of exclamation points! The most recent entry in her little book was asking Jesus to show her how to share her love of Jesus with her friends. She closed the book and put it on her desk as her mom called her to breakfast. No time to think about that right now though, it was almost time for school!

One Sunday morning in church, Lucy noticed different tracts sitting on a table. She picked one up and giggled at the jokes as she read through the tract. She thought of Mandy Mouse at school. Mandy loved jokes. Maybe she'd like to read this. Lucy tucked two tracts into her little purse and sat down with her family as the music started to fill the sanctuary.

The next day at school, Lucy saw Mandy Mouse and told her about the funny jokes she had read and handed her the tract. Mandy thanked Lucy and tucked the tract in her backpack. Frank overheard the girls and asked if he could have a tract too. Lucy remembered she had put two tracts in her purse, so handed one to Frank to read too. They heard the bell ring and all hurried to their next class.

That evening, Lucy heard the telephone ring and her mother called her downstairs. It was Frank. He wanted to thank her for the tract and said he prayed the prayer on the back of the tract and became a Christian too! Lucy was so excited that she called Mandy Mouse as soon as she hung up the phone with Frank. She asked Mandy if she read the tract. Mandy said, "Yeah, it was ok." And then went on to tell Lucy about her piano lesson that evening.

Lucy was confused about the two reactions she had gotten. She asked her mom about it. "Not everyone will accept Jesus in their heart as soon as you talk to them. Everyone has a choice whether to love Jesus or reject him. Mandy, you did exactly what God wants you to do. We are supposed to share our faith. How your friends react doesn't matter. You planted the seed in Mandy's heart and maybe the next friend who comes along will water that seed by sharing their faith too." Lucy was reassured with her mom's words that maybe someday Mandy would remember all those things she had read and heard about Jesus, and would ask Him into her heart too.

Before Lucy went to bed that night, she picked up her little journal with the pink flower on it and put a big exclamation point next to her request to God on how she could share her faith with her friends. God showed her one way to share her faith that week, and Lucy knew God would show her other ways too. Lucy prayed that night for her friends and then drifted off to sleep with a smile and a happiness in her heart.

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
