Me First
by W. Yvonne Birnell Bedtime's here - I now lay down All I can think of is my frown So many things went wrong today My day it started the wrong way To start things off I got up late Which only made me feel irate Next I broke the golden rule I made my children late for school Then off to work I had to run I know right now this won't be fun My boss he met me at the clock Said it's my paycheck he will dock Then he spoke just like a jerk I'll teach you to be late for work A new job on me, he now bestowed Made my brain want to explode At last I see it's time to go Man this traffic's moving slow I have plans for a dinner guest I sure would like to look my best Now as I enter my front door I see there's toys upon my floor I scream and shout, the children cry I wonder why I even try Please help me Lord I finally ask I have no strength for one more task I'll lean on You, for You are strong Please show me now what I did wrong The reason for this awful mess God showed to me with such success He said, today it was the worst Next time you're late, still make Me First Saved by the grace of God.
