Peace Where God Placed You
by Nancy Quinn

The tension began to feel thick in the hallway as it emanated from the new sales agent's office. Another argument about customer territory wafted down the hall and Julie listened from her reception desk post. She wondered how long she'd be able to survive at this job. It was a business where the one who made the most money was the "top dog". From what Julie could see so far, gaining the customer and making a sale came at all costs and the "friendships" in the office were only a faade.

How many of use have that perfect job? You know, the one where you joyfully get up in the morning and think, "Wow, I get paid to do this?" If you're like me, you have never been at that utopian job. But, I encourage you to take a big step back and really look at your job. Why do you think you are there? The Lord may want you there to shine as a light in a dark place, to put you there for a season to help certain people, or you may just be there because the Lord blessed you with this job to provide for you and your household for this moment in your life.

In all things, we should do our work heartily as for the Lord as stated in Colossians 3:23. We should give thanks in all our circumstances. So whatever job the Lord has given you for the work of your hands, remember to thank him and to patiently learn the lessons he wants you to learn where you have been placed, and to fulfill the mission he has called you to do. The Lord knows your heart's desires, but He also knows where you need to be right now. So choose to be salt and light in your job as you wait for the Lord to open the next door to continue on in your life's journey.

FURTHER BIBLE STUDY:
Mark 9:50 "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other."
Proverbs 16:3 "Commit your works to the LORD and your plans will be established."
Proverbs 22:29 "Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men."
Ecclesiastes 5:12 "The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep."
I Corinthians 4:12 "and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure."
I Thessalonians 4:11 "and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
