Proverbs
by Rick Oraham

In the book of Proverbs I find instructions of living true
It says that I must guard my heart for it affects everything I do (Prov. 4:23)
Besides teaching wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and insight
It gives me simple directions on how to live my life right
Living life correctly through structure and discipline
Is my only hope to fight this fight -- this battle against sin
'Cause raging war within me is evil thoughts and strange desires
But God has promised me the strength to fight the raging fires
For God gave me His word He won't give me anything I can't handle (1 Cor. 10:13)
Ans since it comes from His good book I know it's not a scandal
In Proverbs chapter 9 it says to leave my foolish ways behind (Prov. 9:16)
Begin to live, learn to be wise - obtain God's very own mind
Because there is a way before me that to me may seem right (Prov. 14:12 & 16:25)
But in the end it leads to death - whether in daytime or in night
So it is very important that I must keep God first
'Cause in His word it promises me that I will never thirst (John 4:13-14 & 6:35)
The beginning of knowledge comes from fearing the Lord
Only fools despise the wisdom and discipline offered in His word (Prov. 1:7)
So the question I must ask myself time and time again
"Am I pursuing holiness or chasing after sin?"
