Our Risen Crucified Living Lord
by Cori Mann

Born into the world like you and like me
He came to this earth to set us all free

Full of sin we needed the Savior and His love
Unblemished and pure like a snow-white dove

God's own Son, the world He came to save
Jesus the sacrificial Lamb, God so lovingly gave

We did not deserve this Savior, this Holy One
There was to be a living sacrifice, God's own Son

So much suffering took place that heartrending day
He was tortured and beaten in a most horrible way

Lashes left the skin shredded, bloody and raw
While unbeliever's watched liking what they saw

A crown of thorns roughly place on His head
They wanted this man Jesus to be soon dead

Carrying the heavy cross that would hold Him very soon
He walked to the place where it happened at high-noon

Nails pounded fiercely piercing into His feet and healing hands
There were people watching and mocking from many far lands

The cross was now standing between two others there
A criminal on each side of our suffering Lord, did anyone care?

Family, friends and followers watched Him suffer, they did care
Their suffering sweet innocent Jesus, it just did not seem fair

They hurt for Him while others cheered as Jesus suffered and died
Mary his mother looked on and as she stared at her son she cried

The people thought they had taken the life of Jesus and won
What they did not know was that God's will was to be done

He rose again and is alive today the Holy One did not die
Through Him we have new life and worship Him on high

It is by His stripes he sacrificially took for us that we are healed
The cross where He was crucified is where our future is sealed

In Him we are eternally free, Jesus now sits on the throne at the right hand
Of our Father in Heaven where all God's children will eternally stand

"When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping." Mark 16:9,10 (NIV)
