Choose the Narrow Gate
by Nancy Quinn

My childhood hamster Ginger was a fluffy, golden escape artist. She had a hamster roadster to take mini road trips up and down the hallway, and then would retreat back to her cage to explore the brightly colored tunnels in her cage. She'd wiggle through the tunnels and I hoped she'd never get stuck because I wasn't sure I'd be able to get her out of them. She was a rather pudgy hamster.

Just like Ginger traveled through the narrow tunnels in her cage, it reminds me that we are to travel through the narrow gate as Christians. Taking the easy way and going along with the crowd is a very wide and easy gate to go through. Unfortunately, many people are going to choose the wide gate and will miss Heaven's entrance that has a beautiful and golden gate, but it's rather narrow.

While we don't know how much time we have left, I encourage you to make the same choice Ginger did and choose the narrow way! Doesn't it seem like the easy way is quite often the wrong way? It's easier to lie your way out of trouble. It's easier to follow the crowd so you don't look different. It's easier to give into the temptation of sin than to resist it. It's always harder to do the right thing, but if you stay on the narrow path and strive to follow Christ, his retirement plan for us is out of this world!

Matthew 7:13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."

Revelation 2:7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
