Children
by boatrocker Gilmore

Children are great blessings that are often trivialized.
Many have children but most fail to realize.

If there are no children, there can't be a future.
But with many children, our future is secure.

To be fruitful and multiply, most people plead the case
That this command is given for all living except the human race.

Why are some beasts willing to die to meet this need?
And humans are willing to fight just to abort their seed?

Do they understand that it is wise to obey our creator at all cost?
Or has mankind drifted so far away from God's purpose that he is lost?

What if God said I love children but I only want one or two?
And continues to say that I already have my two there is no need for you?

Now we can understand what the unborn and unwanted child may feel.
The ultimate rejection and a pain that won 't heal.

But God desires to have many children, we are more than just dust.
For God is Love and he shares his love with all of us.

Did it say that God so love the world that he gave the world many things?
Or did it say that he gave his only begotten son. Oh! What can this mean?

God's gift of his son proves that he esteems nothing greater than this loving relationship.
When we embrace God's wisdom, we can appreciate his gift and experience true fellowship.

We can know what God gave up for us by knowing the true love for a son.
We can understand what pain he felt when his son was nailed to a cross and hung.

Was it the pursuit of things that brought father Abraham great pleasure
Or did he desire a home fill with children to be his earthly treasure?

A man desiring many children, he and God are on one accord
Because it is written that the fruit of the womb is God's reward.

Prayer: Lord deliver my mind from seeing children as a burden instead of a blessing. Transform my heart to desire children the way you do, so that I may reward you according to your will for my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
