Dearest Friends:
by Shakera Reid-Stewart

Wealth, intellect, and good feelings do not make a friend.
My dearest friends, you've all got what it takes!
Compassion, loyalty, love, and faith.
Faith in me, and faith in God's plan for the journey we take as friends.
I can surely say that we will endure life's ups and downs.
I can surely say this because we've been through them before,
That's what makes you friends.
In good times and bad ones too, always friends.
"This too shall pass"
"Just get over it!"
"God will make a way."
"You can do it!"
These are the things you say.
When I'm happy, you all find joy there,
When I'm distressed, we mourn together.
These are the things that make you dearest friends.
Your presence helped to make me who I am.
Dearest friends let me not put off what should be said today,
You are loved for the love that you've shown me,
I am richly blessed for having known you as my dearest friends!
