All By Myself?
by Linda Lariscy

One of the most comforting scriptures in the Bible has to be Hebrews 13:5KJV "I will never leave thee or forsake thee." Christ will never forsake us meaning He will never abandon us or leave us as orphans, children bereft of parents. To forsake is to reject or give up something or someone once held dear. Our heavenly Father holds us dear and will in spite of our imperfections and failings never give us up. But this verse holds a deeper truth in that He will never leave us. What a concept! There is never a moment that we are left alone. We are never alone.

When God created Adam He said it was not good that man should be alone. He created Eve as a suitable companion equal in all aspects to the man. But sin entered into the heart of man and the good intentions of God were averted for a time. Now in Christ a wonderful change has been wrought in our lives. The Holy Spirit now lives within us... forever! He is as close as the breath we breathe.

Jesus knows the deep and penetrating sting of loneliness. He bore the heart-wrenching experience of being separated from His Father. He endured the agony of being forsaken by His Father so that we would never have to be alone again.

As the old hymn says "No never alone, no never alone. He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone." The Lord is with you my friend. Though the house may creak at times and there is no voice heard through it's air, be assured my friend, God is there!
