Reflecting His Son
by Jose Herrera

Rough first few days! That's what my first few days of this week felt like, however I was reminded that in my weakness, God's grace is sufficient for me. You see, I have been at home off from work for the past few days; sick with food poisoning, aaggghhh! It has been horrible; body aches, stomach pains, weakness, etc. The list can go on.

Yet, through all this, I have had some time to reflect and spend some quiet time with God. I find it amazing that sometimes God will allow you to follow YOUR OWN negligence in order to bring you closer to Him, and rely only on him; trusting that, he is sovereign and that I am His child, it will not destroy me but make me a stronger son of God; to be able to reach others and share my witness to people.

Anyhow, I am on my final day of being home recovering, and this morning I chose to spend it quietly alone in my bedroom with the blinds up; so I can see the sun rising and shimmering across the little pond right outside my backyard. Boy what a beautiful morning he has given us so far!

This pond usually is not that very clean; we have people usually coming by to refill it and cleanse it; but not often. However, as the morning sun shined across its surface; I noticed that even though I knew it may be dirty from within...the bright sun made it look and appear crystal clear as if it were clean. The sun brought beauty to this pond. It made me think of how we as children of God are the very same way; sometimes we still have some residue of the muck from our past resurfacing; making us look at times ugly, yet when we allow God's light to shine on us; all he sees is His SON'S (excuse the pun = SUN'S) reflection and not the filth many people may still remember you by. For All He Sees is the beautiful radiance of his Son on us, but in order to do this we must yield to him and be willing to allow His Son to shine on us.

So, he showed me through a beautiful Word, what I must do in order for His Son to shine on me: "Be Still, and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10.

In other words in your time of trouble; in your time of strife; in your time of filth; in your time of tight pressure: Let go and trust in Him, that he is your strength; your shelter, your fortress, and your special secret retreat.

As you come and retreat in him, your life can't help but reflect who he is; if you are truly spending time with God...others then will see God's radiance in you and through you; just like when we stand out in the sun, people will know that you were out bathing in the sun because of the sun tan it may have caused. Can people see the effects of God's presence in your life?

When you feel like chaos, trouble, and the muck of life is seeking for you; Be still and trust that HE IS: GOD and He is with you.

Take some time to reflect on Him and believe that he will have a long lasting effect on you; for others to be blessed and desire to know Him; the very one who has changed the way you look.
