Little Curly Tails: Big Problems
by Nancy Quinn Ah, the adventures in the life of a veterinarian's daughter. One Saturday morning my dad woke me to go on the call of a lifetime with him. Jeans and a T-shirt were the uniform for assisting the doctor. Instead of a sterile hospital, my dad's "house calls" were in the depths of old barns or in fields, and the uniform of this veterinarian were green coveralls. The farmer greeted my dad with a handshake and quickly led us to the barn. The stale smells invaded my nostrils, but I was used to it. My dad kneeled beside the patient with his case full of a doctor's tools. The first patient arrived with tiny snorts and wiggles. His tiny nose sneezed at my hand and his little curly tail twitched in fear. Holding him close and speaking in soothing tones, I marveled at how something so adorable could eventually turn into something so huge and clumsy! Just like the adorable little piglets I got to hold that morning on the farm after my dad helped with the emergency childbirth, have you ever had a small problem that you thought you could handle on your own without God's help? Then suddenly, it turns into a major problem and you wonder what happened. Something seemingly minor can quickly blow up into a big pink elephant in your living room, or a big pink pig! You can be victorious over any situation that you're struggling with if you ask for the Lord's help and His wisdom. I encourage you to take a big step back from a challenging situation and listen to the Lord's still voice. No problem is too small, or too big, that God can't solve. He loves you with an eternal love and is waiting for you to ask for His help. God gives us wisdom when we ask, and it's much easier to seek His wisdom with our daily problems instead of only asking for His help when they get out of control! Job 15:8 "Do you listen in on God's council? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?" Job 33:33 "But if not, then listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom." Psalm 90:12 "Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom," May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ.
