Psyche vs Zoe
by Mark Heatherly

What is life?

Who may know it & who may possess?

Every man alike has what he perceives to be life but it is not.

A man who was raised by chimps & knows no other life, will he not think he is a chimp?

So too the life we're born into we believe it as life.

One who lives in the world, is that not his life?

One who is an angel, his life is not that of a man.

But the life that is in man, we know deep within, it is not right.

It is not complete, not satisfied, unfulfilled, amiss & askew.

We seek for a better life but do err in the lifeless things of this world.

In wisdom shall we search & know the truth.

The lives that we now have are but death, full of corruption ; utterly unsalvageable.

In deception do we walk, for what we think is life is really death.

What we think is something is really nothing.

The nature of the old life seeks after that which is of death for life does not exist in lifeless things.

It is only & always contrary to the life of God.

A man cannot know what he does not know of reality for it must be uncovered or revealed so that he may know.

The self life of man enshrouds the light. It lies in darkness & cannot comprehend this true light as it is hidden in Christ.

The old life searches out it's own; it is a life which views & experiences all things through, by & for itself alone.

As it abides in itself, it cannot see outside of self & thus it is blind.

All the happenings in this way of life must benefit, promote & protect self.

In the life of truth, all things are from Him, through Him & to Him.

Thus, the glory of the creature may only be realized in his Creator.

This life does not exist in the world & it is contrary to the nature of man.

It is a life beyond the comprehension & apprehension of man's natural mind & senses.

It is only known & experienced through the spirit within the man; that which is encased within the psyche.

Darkness gives way to light as the spirit prevails.

This life is in Christ; this life is Christ.

We must decrease that He may increase.

We must lose our life to keep it.

We must cease that He may be.

We must hate our life in this world that we may have this life eternal.

We must lay hold of that which has laid hold of us.

For we cannot take hold of that which is true life while we yet hang onto the life in hand.

I make my writings available to all, but I would very much like to hear from those who have questions or comments or are built up & enriched & also from those who wish to use my writings for reprint.
