Lose to Choose
by Linda Lariscy

Have you ever noticed that people have a tendency to resemble their pets, especially their dogs? Research at the University of California - San Diego indicates that when people choose a purebred dog to love, it invariably bears some resemblance to them. Well, I'll be dogged, what does that say about us humans? Perhaps we are drawn to the familiar to the things that remind us about ourselves or how we would like to appear to others.

The company we keep says a lot about us. Our "playmates" play a major role in how we end up in life. An ancient Latin proverb says it like this, "If you always live with those who are lame, you will yourself learn to limp". And then there's this one, "If you want to soar with eagles don't hang around with turkeys"!

Ponder for a moment with whom you associate. Have you been asking God to change you? Have you asked God to give you good success? Or, are you tired of being a big fake and yearn to be an authentic person? Often God cannot add to you until He first takes away from you. If you want to be more like Christ, first lose and then choose. Lose your fake friends and choose true ones. Lose your negative and gossiping friends and choose associates who are more like Christ. If you want to clean up your language, complain less, and look more on the sunny-side of life, actively pursue people who are already walking in these things. Finding success in your life could be as simple as getting to know your neighbor next door just a little bit better!

"Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character".
(1 Cor 15:33 NIV)".
